Texas comes in at 1.3T which puts it between Spain and Australia at 13th place. Still not bad considering Spain is sort of a first world nation and Texas has just a little more than half Spain's population.
Looking at THAT list the difference between a number of states (including NY and TX) is close enough to negligible that the same country is shown as equivalent to all of them. Though I have to say I'm a bit skeptical of the idea that the nominal and PPP per capita GDP of LA (particularly post-Katrina) is equal to that of the US.
