I've wondered how education systems would fair if we treated teachers like doctors, lawyers, veterinarians and the like. "Professionals". Same sort of standards, same sort of ethical guidelines, etc...etc...
AND along those same lines, the same sort of respect and acknowledgement that they just might know more about their field than Joe Schmoe (which they would, held to such standards).
Obviously this would not solve all problems as evident in the problems facing the medical industry and well...need we go into lawyers?
But from a regulatory standpoint, I think it could be a viable tract. I could be wrong, though
