I fail to see how the context changes the import of his remark.

For my own curiosity is that just a random Nazi aspersion of the variety you were claiming just today you don't do or are you referencing Thomas M. Disch?
It does not apply to all Republicans, but manifestly and regrettably applies to a disproportionate number of GOP candidates. As noted in my response to Legolas, when a candidate complains someones name sounds "too foreign" (not that he has anything against foreigners
) that does kinda open them up to charges of racism, yes (hence Aishas thread.) It is only an indictment of the party if they nominate him for president knowing that.

I can see how some people initially had a negative reaction to the post, but no one pressed on with that after I provided context, they presumably either thought "Oh, that makes sense" or at least "That could be, I will give him the benefit of the doubt", that you chose not to just means to me you want it to be true, so there's no point in discussing this.
The context shows the setting was informal and that his bigoted aside was not the focus of his comments; it does not make the remark any less bigoted. If he truly did not have "anything against foreign doctors" he would not be worried that one was "too foreign." After he said that, civility may have been off table.

Just because both contain the word "wall" doesn't mean they are the same thing.
