I think merging books, TV, and games into one giant CMB would be good. Then we could split off News/Politics to be its own little cesspit.
After all, one of the big things to do with friends is to talk about things you like--books, TV shows, whatever. I think we do ourselves a disservice by splitting the community into so many subsections. We could still have easily accessed lists of reviews, so people could quickly find what they're looking for.

Which is pretty much my point

I remain unconvinced a few voices can drown out the rest in an internet environment.

the problem with the chat drama is spilled over into everything else

All the political crap would go there, like it does on those other sites.

Perhaps some might feel more comfortable posting if it were separate?

I'd be interested in CMB again.

Probably the easiest solution is to have a filter instead, save the new board for a "Writers Board"

Perhaps

There are actually a number of simple and effective solutions if this really bugs people

There is a reason we are seeing so much complaining about politics form certain people

You're adorable. You're also pretty new to the site, as I recall.

yes I was refering to you

Then you should know there are fewer conservatives on the site now.

That's arguably flawed reasoning, there's apparently considerably fewer posters overall now

To a certain extent. But the site's left lost LiterateDog and Chorabliss.

If people want to keep the place alive and interesting for themselves then they can do these things:

there would be so little traffic on the community board that you could shut it down
