If is because you are making more money or you decided you enjoy the other field better. IF you have a EE you can make low six figures with some experience which most people consider good money but yes there are fields that pay better. Some of the best paid people at my company are our sales reps. A lot of them have engineering degrees but not all. I did and I never finished my degree.
In fact that may be something you want to look at. Look at the companies selling to your field and you might have some luck. The ability to talk intelligently to people in the field goes a long way and sales pays. I am not criticizing people for making bad choices, god knows I have made enough of those. What I am criticizing is people who make bad decisions and blame other people. That and rants that are factually weak.
