Almost this time last year my third baby was born 5 weeks early. Seriana Sedai Send a noteboard - 16/12/2011 03:03:23 PM
The biggest problem we faced was actually feeding. My pediatrician compared it to asking a six month old baby to walk, except in this case the baby has to. Malcolm took some extra time figuring this out, and that was the same for the twins next door that were born at 34 weeks. When he had to have a feeding tube it was really disconcerting, but he gained weight better when it was in and it was comforting to see that.
The Special Care Nursery was full of all kinds of intimidating equipment, but everyone was really great about telling me about why it wasn't as scary as it looked. The incubette was especially intimidating, but it was really just there so he didn't have to work as hard to keep his body temperature up and could use his energy to put on body fat.
Thoughts and prayers are with you that little one decides to stay put a while longer. Like you said, you're almost at the magic point, but it would be nice to be able to wait. :)
