Oh hell yes they are "wrong" on a huge number of issues. The Shrike Send a noteboard - 25/09/2009 06:16:37 PM
I'm astounded at the level of partisanship in politics today. When I was growing up, people would generally support one party over the other, but rarely did people agree 100% with what their party of affiliation said.

These days, it seems that there is an almost religious devotion to political parties. If a proposal comes from the opposing party, it must ipso facto be wrong, worthy of scorn and anathema to everything that is good and right in the world.

At the same time, we know that it's impossible for one side to ALWAYS be right and the other side to ALWAYS be wrong. So...my survey:

1. Do you believe your political party is ALWAYS right?
For the Democrats. No. I despise their stand on free trade/protectionism. But there is a wide different in the Democratic Party on free trade. I despise their lack of support for nuclear power as interim solution. I despise their continued support for affirmative action that is just code for racism against white people. I despise the fact that there is no one full support for marriage equality for gay men and women but that its adhoc discrimination, bigotry or support.

2. a) If so, why? b) If not, where do you think your political party is/has been wrong?

I combined the two.

3. Do you think that partisan politics have become too contentious?

I think that the Republican Party got hijacked by recalcitrant anti-modern, technophobic, xenophobic poorly educated Southern Christians. And that has cost them a lot. I liked a lot of Northeast Republicans. Now I see they are called RINOs by these conservative assholes. I actually more self-identified with Northeast Republicans growing up. Socially liberal and fiscally "conservative". But now they are almost gone except for the two senators from Maine. And its a sad day. So the current Republicans just say no no and no to everything. And the current weak President does not use the power he has and keeps trying to reach out to people who don't want to be reached. I wish the motherfuckers would just secede or implode or split into a normal Republican half(like the Northeast Republicans used to be) and the crazy and stupid religious fundamentalists.

Oh and I disagree with every Democrat who still supports the Patriot Act.
