The average person can't have much real impact nationally but they can on small local politics. People are unhappy with the educations system so they demand a president who will focus on education but then they never even bother to show and vote for their local school board. A lot of time the decisions that affect us the most personally are being made at the local level. Besides a lot of national politicians start at locally so you can work to improve that you will help to improve what works its way to the top. Being part of the grassroots does give you some voice.
