On the other hand, I can think of no greater killjoy than obsessing about your health beetnemesis Send a noteboard - 16/02/2012 04:47:28 PM

I think people want to feel like they're eating better but either don't know what that really means or are willfully deluding themselves that these so-called "healthy" options are actually better for them. I can feel great about eating a salad instead of a cheeseburger if I pretend it doesn't actually have more fat and calories than the cheeseburger.

That's an interesting point. Depressing, too, if most people really can't see that health should always be incorporated into one's diet. Taste, flavour, texture, etc. are important, but so is health.

A person who eats nothing but salad (dressing on the side), graham crackers, and edamame may live longer than someone who loves a good steak, but what kind of life is that- you're basically writing off one of your senses entirely.

Much better is to eat what you want, but in moderation, and try to be a little active. And don't WORRY about it so much!

Edit- I'll add that healthy food definitely doesn't have to taste bad. I just absolutely HATE the mindset of "Oh, all I'll eat today is some dry salad and maybe a container of yogurt, because I want to be healthy!" And then they'll act as if they're engaging in a guilty pleasure to have a burger once in a while.
I amuse myself.
