Thanks. And I'm sure that letting people off for travel plans is the norm, and that the court is very reasonable, blah blah blah. I just don't think people should have to rely on the court's judgment as to whether their plans are important enough to let them off the hook. There are plenty of other people who can serve; just let people postpone if need be (obviously bringing the date of their next service forward a bit to compensate).

Anyway, we're getting a little off topic here. I don't pretend to know how to fix the system (although I have a few ideas) and that's not originally the point I was trying to argue. I just didn't think that Narg should get angry at people who try to get out of jury duty.
