Nostalgic parody, perhaps? Joel Send a noteboard - 14/03/2012 10:51:14 AM
I mostly saw them as reruns in the 80s and mostly as crap that was on TV at 6 am before I went to school that was preferable to the channel that always played Romper Room. Really I remember them mostly from Space Ghost C2C, the Harvey Birdman spin off, and Venture Bros. I still have a bunch of the C2C on VHS, hard to believe that was twenty years ago.

25 or 6 to 4? :P My viewing conditions were basically the same, except including the late '70s, where Battle of the Planets is still the pick of the litter.

Ah G-force, another of those shows I can't really remember beyond remembering that I remember watching them... Titan Maximum, now that's a shoe I'd have liked to see more of. We probably need a genre name for grown up shows parodying the awful crap we all watched as kids.

Pretty sure Battle of the Planets somehow acquainted me with nostalgia in the early '80s (even though its original US run had not yet finished.) Either that, or summers spent watching fifty year old and/or B movies all night with my dad after I had read long enough for my mom to fall asleep. One of the nice things about living in a city as big as Houston was that there were multiple independent stations even in the early '80s and they did not just turn to snow at 2AM (most stations STILL do in Ausin.) White Heat and Invasion of the Bee Girls (usually) beat Charlie Rose on Nightwatch, and DEFINITELY beat Ag Day. :P
