I actually took it as a comment on disloyalty, rather than the religion thing.

I mean, sure, Robertson is standing up for Tebow because of the Christianity, but I didn't think he was saying that it would serve them right for cutting a Christian, more that he was saying it would serve them right for ditching a player who brought them success just because of controversy that isn't his fault, or in order to go for a flashy new star. A lot of the same attitudes were flying around the NY/NJ area when it looked like the Jets were making a serious play for Manning. They were saying that it might be a bad fit and a bad move for the way the team has built, by just chasing a star with injury concerns, regardless of where or how he'd fit in on the team. Like the acquisition of Brett Favre a couple years back, it seems like the Jets are more interested in the buzz than improving the team legitimately (and pursuing a superstar quarterback right after their cross-town rivals win a Super Bowl, TWICE, makes it look even more desperate). I pretty much went with the assumption that Robertson was criticizing the Broncos for the same thing the Jets have been criticized for with their willingness to abandon Chad Pennington and Mark Sanchez for a aging star.
Of course, neither is the teams' position unreasonable. It is a business, and their first goal has to be to win, not appease sentiments, which is why the Giants had to cut Simms, and why the Broncos went with Manning over Tebow and why the Colts cut Manning in the first place, and why Manning went to another AFC team, that will likely play the Colts before his time with them is up.
still saying somebody (or something like a team) deserves what it gets because they cut a Christian from their team for a player far superior is ridiculous. And that is exactly what he implied with what he said.
I don't know. People were saying the same kind of stuff when the Giants cut Phil Simms years ago, to the point that when he finally retired and came back for a ceremony retiring his number, the fans in Giants Stadium booed when he thanked the owners and GM. I am sure Robertson is coming at it from the other side of the equation, liking Tebow first because he is a Christian, rather than a contributing player to his favorite team, but the attitude is not unique or illegitimate.Of course, neither is the teams' position unreasonable. I thought the article title was a little assuming too but I wasn't going to modify it either.

What do you expect from a guy more showman than priest in the first place?

True, the Jets were already screwed, and will be as long as Ryan is running the (side)show.

I wonder how Tebow would do being mentored by Peyton Manning? Or Sanchez, had the Jets got him
