I have to agree. Sophy Send a noteboard - 27/09/2009 08:27:39 PM
Christianity is one of my favouritereligions for the time being, while it's fun and arcaic and surrealistic, but it's history is quite dark (actually that makes it even more interesting, but that's not the point here). I'm quite sceptical to the "evidence" in the article, it seems to be the same kind as some people within the Swedish church have tried to use to prove that the church has always been feministic.

Lots of things have occured in the outskirts of the church though, while it, normally was caughed up in groups as a part of the whole religious realm, and it took some time for most groups to get purely monoteistic. In some remote parts of Scandinavia people worshipped God and Odin at the same time almost up to modern times. That meant that lots of old rituals were kept, without the central churchly powers having anything to do with it. If we see it all as "accepted by the church in those days" we could also say that human sacrifices were accepted by the church in the old days.
