we watched this ridiculous special on der spiegel about dogs and training (in germany, obviously), and in hamburg there's this nutty fancyass daycare run by some ladies - it's very nice, but likely way expensive. i don't know if there's a lot of dog walkers where you are. the reality is that anyone can get a dog successfully if enough mental enrichment is provided, along with some outlet for exercise/potty, and if you train your dog appropriately (btw, there are some asshole trainers in your country [not that there aren't bad trainers here either, there are...]. you will have to work to find a positive trainer when you do get one.) you could totally have a dog even if you work all day. the question is whether you can afford it, and whether it's worth it to you so you can hang with a pooch evenings and weekends. i have clients with relatively active breeds that have walkers or do daycare and their dogs are fine with that. it's just a personal decision that you have to get educated about to do well...
