Given all those hiccups, I would probably tell you not to get a dog. Obv, I don't know how much money you have - maybe you can afford frequent doggie sitters/daycare, or maybe you have friends willing to drop by and walk him? But, over the last decade I have worked long/weird hours and have had to be away for days at a time - I never let myself get a dog (even though I've desperately wanted one).

I think you need to REALLY think about this, and decide if the situation will be good for the dog. This is going to be blunt (not meant to be mean), but with dogs, it's not about what you want. That's how they end up in pounds all the time.
