I think that most Obama voters realized he was inexperienced and took a chance on "hope and change". Hillary was a known quantity. Obama has seriously underperformed what everyone expected from Hillary. Obviously, Hillary may have underperformed, too, but the likelihood was much lower.
Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.
