All kidding aside, they were mostly amazing men. Though definitely a product of their time. If men (or women) with similar skills arise today, they probably develop different philosophies and almost certainly do not go into politics.
That's what I was thinking. Politics is such a snake pit. It's almost like you're corrupted just by being a politican.
