Just because the offense thinks the game is over doesn't mean the defense has to agree. Had Eli fumbled, and the game been won, people would be singing Schiano's praises.

If this encourages teams not to run V-formation when time is low against the Bucs, that is more than fair. Maybe it broke one of those infamous "unwritten rules" which are so prevalent in baseball, but football tends to be more straightforward.

Maybe it was uncouth by NFL standards. All I know is, were I a Bucs fan, I would want to know my team was still trying as time expired. And were I a Giants fan, I would want to know that my team, so famous for how it closes, would be ready for that.
