Republicans reformed, but did not destroy, welfare. Food stamps, public housing, Medicaid - it's all there and no one is talking about getting rid of it. Romney's point is simply that the people who look to the government for more help won't vote for him anyway, and he's right.

The statement that government should "never help" is not one espoused by either political party.
