Hello my dears,

I am about to enjoy having walls and gubbins taken out and lots of new shiny things put into the kitchen and bathroom and having never done anything like it before I'm after some tips and advice. For the worst of it we'll be migrating (gasp) south of the river so trying to live in a building site won't be an issue, but need to prepare the flat and move stuff out of the way and whatnot so there's space to do everything.

Have you had work done? What about on your home? What went well, or terribly, and what would you do to prepare? Was it a bit like pregnancy and that all the terrible was forgotten once you were hugging something all new? Did it give you PTSD?

Horror stories, irrelevant comments and amusing anecdotes (not necessarily related) all welcome.
