There's wine found in Pompeii that's labeled "vesuvinum," which is wordplay on Vesivius and vinum (wine). Vesuvius was famous for its fertile slopes, and a great deal of grapes were cultivated there.

So we know hokey marketing puns have been around since a least 79 AD :P
