The problem is not the unions, but the so called political system we have where everything is controlled by money.

Get rid of capitalism, go to a socialist economic system, reform our election system, and we won't have this problem.

No, it would be replaced by a system identical, where the issues of patronage and cronyism are completely opaque to the public. At least with our system, outsiders can buy their way in. In your system, the political class becomes even further isolated from reality.

Sorry, I'd rather have the people who actually do WORK have an influence on what happens in this country
I'm sorry, where did you get the idea that members of public sector unions do anything of the kind? Furthermore, the whole point of public services is that they are supposed vital to the country. Teachers are supposed to be noble educators, constantly praised for their service to the children and the future of our country, but when they go on strike, they are holding "our children" hostage to their financial demands! The same thing with police & fire strikes. Calvin Coolidge set the military loose on the police who attempted to strike when he was governor of Massachusettes for that very reason. If you go into government service, in your professional capacity, you forfeit certain rights, such as the freedom to disclose information from your job. In the private sector, you have to consent to that, usually by signing a non-disclosure agreement. In government service, you are liable to prosecution by law.

Government employees' jobs are either so absolutely and profoundly necessary as to make using their work a bargaining chip a criminal threat to the public welfare, or they are so ridiculously superfluous that it is impossible to conceive of anyone being oppressed in such a workplace. If you don't LIKE what you are paid or how you are treated as a DMV paper-pusher, get a real job.

than entitled privileged fat-cats sitting in board rooms trying to figure out how they can screw over everyone else and make themselves even more obscenely rich.
Do you really think there is any difference between the heads of labor unions and corporate management? Those guys all golf together and have friendly chats while they discuss the deals that will each get them the most money.
