With you on the first part, but most people conceded Obama had the edge on foreign policy.
Joel Send a noteboard - 23/10/2012 06:24:24 AM
Foreign policy was touted as Obama's strong point and what he'd win on, he clearly didn't, so whether it was a Romney win, draw, or even a mild Obama win is pretty damn irrelevant, Romney keeps the inertia of the challenger unblunted, as foreign policy isn't too important right now and all he had to do was not look bad and Obama needed to come off Presidential and make Romney look un-Presidential, the latter didn't happen and frankly I think he blew the former with a lot of people too.
I don't see any game changer from this one though.
I don't see any game changer from this one though.
I DEMAND to know what instapoll declared Obama to be the winner of the first debate, because that runs counter to everything I saw that night from CBS, CNN, et al. And furthermore, who declared that foreign policy was Obama's strong suit? Again, not any real news sites that I've seen, domestic and international alike.
Maybe there's something bizarro world about this?
As Obama noted himself during the debate, Romney had few occasions to address foreign policy as governor of MA, while Obama has had many obligations to do so over the last four years. Even prior to that, while Romney was still a governor Obama was in the Senate with colleagues on the Senate Foreign Relations and Senate Intelligence Committees (the latter including Joe Biden.) The Politico folks seemed to think Obamas observation of Romneys lesser experience pure snark, but I took it (mostly) at face value: "I do not fault your foreign policy silence while governor because your duties lay elsewhere."
