always hated the letters "pt" together in that order

just always looks (and sounds) so awkward.
And some of my friends are apt to take "apt." as something else, ignoring or just not noticing the period.
But hey, thanks for the suggestion.
So, is it a Britishism to refer to a someone with a great body as "fit" the way I've seen it on Brit TV? Seems clear they intend more that just the person has good physical fitness, that it is a synonym with hot or sexy.
Thankfully, while watching Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes, I never got into the Gene Hunt habit of referring to women as "birds" since I realized right away that was a sexist usage. But between those two shows and Hustle, the word "fit" has wormed its way into my mental vocabulary (though I don't use it in speech).

Death to the Regressives of the GOP and the TeaParty. No mercy for Conservatives. Burn them all at the stake for the hateful satanists they are.
Do us Yanks use too many British terms?

I use very few of those terms and thankfully, I'm not a "Yank" or "Yankee"

Soccer terms and lack of subject-verb agreement are the worst that I notice.

I may be wrong, but I believe it's called a football because it's 12-inches long.

I don't think so. Has to do with its historical origins in rugby football. *NM*

Regulation balls are shorter than that, and "gridiron" is an unambiguous international term.

Affectation almost inherently reflects trying too hard, and imitation is unoriginal.
