I think this is because we're on a frontage road with a highway, and there aren't any streetlights so it's dark and not many houses. Plus, the school and community center - where events are held - are on the far side of town so there just aren't many kids in our area to begin with.

I gave the little kids in costumes two mini-candybars, and the older ones (usually not even really in a costume) one.
