I love how highlight the NCAAs precise flaw yet seem to think the worst offender is above it.

It's just gonna be a matter of time until the media outlets figure it out.
Alabama may well be the best team in the country, but they sure as hell haven't done anything to prove it. More likely the best team in the SEC is Florida, which has played well against a schedule that could make an argument. Georgia has exactly one quality win... against Florida.
But seeing as to how Alabama was brought down by an immigrant from the Big 12, And UL-Lafayette has basically been a conference member with 6 SEC opponents (and doing pretty well against a few of them) it is clear the days of total domination have passed.
Besides, Alabama has a nice little history of crapping the bed against Auburn, and if Georgia can forget South Carolina, they certainly can overlook Georgia Tech. The SEC has been handed high ratings all year. I know what the Irish are capable of... we have no idea what the SEC can do, because it is all a southern circle jerk.

Why not just skip the bowl games altogether and give the national "championship" to whichever school has been the subject of the most Ronald Reagan films?

There is a reason A&M went to the SEC, and it is the same reason Arkansas preceded them twenty years ago: Every teams ranking is determined by the quality of their opponents, but those opponents quality is determined by their rankings. The media will keep riding the SEC, PAC 10 and Big 10 jocks along with OUs, Miamis and Florida State, and those schools will keep getting stellar recruiting as a result, but there is NO ONE the media fawns over (and never has been) like Notre Dame.
A&M and Arkansas knew all that, too, and that everyone else is doomed to the crappy recruiting classes and "sub-standard" opponents that kept the 13-0 Aggies from even being CONSIDERED in voting for the national "champion." Just like when Boise St. was undefeated two years straight but was lucky to finish ranked in the top five. Arkansas and A&M went to the SEC because otherwise they could go undefeated year after year and the response would always be "yeah, but the only good team you beat was Texas." So one of the oldest rivalries in all of college football, and the annual home/away Thanksgiving game contesting it, is no more.
No, I do not follow college ball, but not because I am ignorant of it: Because I know more about it than I would like.

Ummm the SEC is the toughest conference, and historically have the best/toughest teams.

Prove it. The subjectivity of rankings makes them (and thus BCS games) irrelevant.

No way! I would never have known this from the six million billion facebook posts.

All those "toughest schedule" arguments are shamelessly circular.

I like the Golden Domers (it is a requirement in my family) but ND's schedule has been weak too.
