Both are at fault (though at least Bush 2 wanted to have an independant audit of F&F). Both tried to gain goodwill by touting housing numbers. Both overused government regulation to try and perform social engineering.

You will have to cite me an example of Bush overusing government regulation (the only kind of regulation that actually does anything.) Even better, ANY specific criticism of an action by ANY Republican that contributed to the subprime mortgage crisis (and thus the Global Financial Crisis it precipitated) would make you seem less partisan than just chiming in to say, "yep, it was all Barney Franks fault."
