When criticism of F&F was raised by Republicans, and the Bush White House in particular, Frank (and the media) made it about black vs white, or Republicans hate Frank because he is gay, instead of the insane policies being implemented. When the White House wanted to request an independent audit of F&F Frank went on a media tour to prevent it. Bush and the Republicans backed down, that was THEIR failure. However, Frank was the chairman of the Congressional committee (with a dem majority) that oversaw and regulated F&F. It was ultimately HIS responsibility, and HE failed. In fact, HIS policies allowed the problem to get worse.
