It was an odd move all round really. Politically it was divisive with his own party, he's not getting much credit for it at the moment because of how the voting went and the amount of voters he's going to gain probably wouldn't fill a church. I suppose it was the right thing to do, but then that's not a motivation I've ever associated with the Tories!

It's going to be some dull back and forth in a PMQ's in 20 years time though:

Tory: we legalised gay marriage
Labour: with our votes
*much chuntering from both sides*
Come to the dark side, We have candy!
