Honestly, didn't he say that when there is no yellow light present, we can still see it because of red and green? And the same with cyan, green and blue? So, even though the spectrum is drawn linearly, if it were curved to join red and blue, exactly the same description would cover magenta. Otherwise he couldn't make the color by overlapping the lights... so, it seems that the only difference is that they aren't specifically connected because we don't draw the spectrum that way. Maybe I've spent too much time with color wheels. :P
