View original postRight. Well as I said, I finally read it (finished a couple weeks ago). I enjoyed it and thought it was a good enough ending for the series. Some of the deaths seemed gratuitous, just to up the body count (esp. the offscreen ones like Siuan and Gareth). And then there were some deaths I thought should have happened but didn't. Specifically I thought Faile and Lan should have died. It wasn't clear for either one how they didn't, and it lessened the impact of their heroic sacrifices not to have them pay that price (although I will admit I burst into tears when I thought Lan died, because I was gutted for Nynaeve). But the first death I cried over was Bela

Er, yeah, I had trouble reading through the Bela and Lan parts. I do agree about Lan/Faile, though I can't help being happy that Lan didn't die. I still love Lan/Nynaeve more than most. Unfortunately, that love means that I couldn't help being annoyed that she got almost no screen-time, when what she was part of should have been some of the most interesting, larger-than-life sections of the book. Did you feel that way? I guess I just didn't know what to expect from the Shayol Ghul stuff.
