Sounds like you had a lot more than just root going on.

I am admittedly not familiar with what you can do with a Nook, but getting root generally just means finding a way to get a Superuser app on the device. You shouldn't have to modify your interface or change what you're booting from. Sounds to me like you didn't have root access on your Nook at all, but found some way to boot an external rom from your SD card. And who knows, maybe that's all you can do with a Nook. *shrugs*
Anyway, doesn't matter, I'm not trying to kibitz, just interested is all.
I am technical and I can do the geek stuff if I want to but I work with tech all day and don't want to spend my off hours tweaking consumer electronic gadgets.
Yeah, I hear that a lot, but I've never really understood it. I'm perfectly happy working on tech stuff by day, and playing with tech stuff by night. Maybe I'm just not burnt out yet.
