I'm really not sure if they take up much space, but stuff like the IMDB app (nowhere near as good as it should be, I tend to use the browser over this app when I look up something there) and Audible both will not uninstall. I've even deleted the damned Audible folder several times, and it just keeps making a new one

I recently uninstalled File Expert and swithced to ES3 File Explorer (which has the benefit of looking more like the interface I've grown accustomed to over the years with Windows and Macs), and I like it more.

What drives me nuts though is the damned Carousel. Is there any way (app, or some technical tinkering in the software) to stop every app or file (book, docs, pdfs) I open from putting itself in the Carousel? Or to keep things from rearranging themselves in the Carousel?

Without rooting, is there any way to change the icons of the various apps? How about that gray shelving background that Kindle uses, can I change that?

Honestly, I couldn't tell you. I have zero experience with the Kindle so I am not sure what this carousel is. Typically, when it comes to tablets, the manufacturer had something like that on lockdown and the only way I know of to change it is to root. Just do your due diligence and learn everything you can about doing it beforehand. You should be able to find forums focusing on rooting the Kindle specifically and what the new ROM (think of the ROM as the OS) does. You should be able to find screenshots too of whatever ROMs are out there for the Kindle.

Well, I'm kind of a boring corporate Android developer, so no cool apps you'd know of. - 15/06/2013 06:41:46 AM 866 Views
