Words themselves DO NOT HAVE THE POWER to harm a person. The only harm a word can cause to you (the general "you" not any particular person in this thread) is the harm you CHOSE TO ALLOW IT TO DO.

And blacks in America prove every single day that the word "nigger" does not harm them, because every single day they chose to use it with other black people, and none of them every seem to be harmed in any way by it. BTW: I live in a neighborhood that is primary black, and I hear it every single day of my life from someone in the neighborhood. But heaven forbid some white person even thinks the word nigger. Suddenly, it is the most horrid and hurtful word in existence.

This reaction from black people is really a RACIST behaviour. Judging that another black person can say the word but not and asian, hispanic or white person, is by definition making a decision based on race.

Words only hurt us when we chose (whether consciously or unconsciously) to allow them to harm us. This is a lesson we as a society attempt to teach children (the whole "sticks and stones may break my bones" rhyme) but it seems as adults we completely forget this.

Nobody who is a mature adult should EVER get upset at a word, no matter the history the word has. Only people who have self doubt as to their own worth will take offense at being called a name, whether it is nigger, cracker, honkey, mick, kraut, dago, wop, spic, chink, faggot, dyke, frog, limey, wetback, jock, taffy, dick, cock, prick, cunt, twat, pussy, geek, nerd, punk, bitch, fucker, or even Republican. If you take offense at being called that word, then the problem lies not in the person using the word, but in you, your brain, and your own sense of self worth.

So yeah, America needs to grow the fuck up.
