Considering Martin was killed for being a black kid walking home from the store in a nice neighborhood, I understand why the president feels concerned and identifies with him. I would not be surprised if it prompted thoughts like I am sure glad the Secret Service will be watching MY kids if they decide to walk to the store. Granted, 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue might not be considered to be in the nicest neighborhood, but it is a safe bet wherever the Obamas move in 2017 will be. Were I the president, I would not welcome the reminder a vigilante could shoot my kids to death on the grounds they are too dark to have any good reason for being at my home.
