Hestons emotion and tears were thus quite real; they had been close friends at least as far back as 17 years earlier, when Robinson played the antagonist to Hestons most famous role, in this film:

Based on this converation and another with a friend of mine, I begin to think classic Hollywood is only well known to AMERICAN cinephiles. Seriously, I have seen all these, and am not even a movie buff (the only reason I have no authority to revoke your card. )
