View original postYeah, my sister said there's tons of Meetup groups for people who want to learn Spanish, so once I'm a little conversational, I'll totally do it.

Does she speak Spanish?

And even just walking around in New York would be good practice - there's signs in Spanish, you overhear people speaking Spanish all the time, and so on.

View original postI am a very visual learner. I learned English by reading (Tolkien - not a book for a beginner!)

Definitely not. That reminds me of my mother who read Gone with the Wind as her second ever English book... which is not as hard perhaps as Lord of the Rings, excepting those dialects, but impressively long all the same.
View original postWhat's interesting is how stimulating it is to learn something. I feel like my brain is more awake and nimble even at work things.

Language learning is supposed to do that, yeah.
