Had he merely exposed the arguably unconstitutional measures taken by the NSA, I think you could make that argument and have it at least not be laughable. However, the scope and breadth of his exposures went far beyond patriotism. He compromised data gathering ability in legitimate areas and severely damaged US relations with other countries.
Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.
