The British Museum blew my mind Aeryn Send a noteboard - 25/01/2014 06:00:38 PM

We got to the British Museum today maybe 40 mins before closing, and I'm def going to come back tomorrow. Walked through the Egyptian section, Assyrian and Chinese, and there was so much more. I must go back and do the entire ancient section more thoroughly.

We've been doing a fair amt of walking around which is less charming in the rain and dark. We haven't really ventured far from the Westminster central area. Done so far: Trafalgar Sq, Parliament, Westminster Abbey, London Eye, Tate Modern, Brick Lane, British Museum. still on the list for tomorrow: Tower of London, British Library, Buckingham Palace, Coventry Garden - which is a lot..But I'm happy with our progress given that we've also been sleeping till noon - it's a vacation after all.

View original postMy one recommendation for you would have been the British Museum, but as you don't want museums or galleries I'll suggest the British Library instead. Right next to King's Cross and St. Pancras (which are lovely buildings in their own right), it's got some wonderful collections and exhibitions, including (my personal favourite) the [Ritblat Gallery](http://www.bl.uk/whatson/permgall/treasures/index.html).

View original postJust plan a walk around, see what you can see. Some definite recommendations are:

View original post * Covent Garden

View original post * Trafalgar Square

View original post * The walk from Trafalgar Square to Westminster, along Whitehall

View original post * Buckingham Palace and Hyde Park

View original post * Carnaby Street, if you like your shopping

View original post * Wandering east from Carnaby through Soho

View original post * St. Paul's cathedral, and crossing the bridge to the South Bank by Tate Modern

View original post * Going further afield to Greenwich.
