There has been a right wing fringe just as long as there has been a left wing fringe. What they are getting worked up over changes with time but they have always been there and how much impact they have had has always fluctuated. Look at the Hollywood black list. Why was that allowed to go on? Because politicians were willing to step forward and risk being called soft on commies.
