If they are hiding in a school, whatever damage is their fault for being corwards.
Obviously, all military engagements have screw-ups and are victims of poor intelligence, but Hamas has a long history of hiding their fighters and weapons in public locations, even UN sactioned schools, so such locations are fair game.
Once again, everything that is happening is the fault of Hamas.
