It is hardly one person on the left and it isn't like she is talk radio host or the retired governor of the smallest state in the country she is third in line to the Oval office. Not that the one setting in the oval office has done much to bring down the tone.
Let’s look at the leadership of the left
Pelosi (lets ignore the Nazi sign waving comments for the moment since so many are hell bent to defy reason defending her for that) she welcomed code pink to come up front and applauded them when they protested at her rally but called tax protesters un-American.
Reid- publicly called Bush an idiot. How is that for public discourse.
Obama- called protesters astroturf and insincere.
It is the left crying that things have gotten to heated up but they do so only after they are in power and still continue to insult and dismiss those who disagree with them.
How many of the people on the left who are Ohh so distraught over the state of public discourse toke the opportunity to chastise their own member who on the floor of the congress said republicans want sick people to dies quickly and called them knuckle dragging Neanderthals? All we here is crying of what a few on the fringe right pundints are saying and a deaf ear is turned to what the fringe left, who are running the party, say.
Sorry this entire story is nothing more then the lasted phase of liberal "we are victims" mindset.
They are in control of the country if they don't like the tone they should try changing theirs.

No, it hasn't always been like this; I think Watergate changed it, and maybe Vietnam.
