Our 'we-ness' has always been in a state of flux. Hell, 'we' killed upwards of 600,000 of our own roughly a century and a half ago. And then there's whole ignored dimension of just how limited the definition of 'we' has been through our short history. While I certainly agree with some of Friedman's points, particularly the wild excess of money in politics and the never-ending campaigning, I feel that he has missed the mark somewhat. He talks about the symptoms but fails to mention the diseases.
