When I was a freshman at my high school, I was offered Latin, French, Spanish, Russian, German, Japanese, Italian, and Arabic. Ancient Greek was offered intermittently.

By the time I graduated, budget cuts and an increasing focus on STEM had led to the school offering only Latin, French, and Spanish.

Also responsible: the Arabic teacher getting fired for threatening to murder some of her students. !ما شاء الله‎
