Farming is a massive deal in NZ; the economy is heavily based on it, with milk and wool production (and forestry) being the biggest earners.
My family used to grow blackcurrants commercially, but gave that up quite a few years ago. My Dad now grows one or two dozen cattle per year, more as a hobby than a money earner.
