Tariffs.
We have huge tariffs on SUVs and trucks that were never phased out. It's why even Japanese and German manufacturers make their SUVs and trucks in the US. It's why we have a car industry in many places. It's also why we export a lot of SUVs and trucks.
Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.
