Do you honestly believe that either of them has a lot of personal merit on that score? Legolas Send a noteboard - 01/12/2016 07:58:43 PM

View original post"If Donald Trump can do that 804 more times he can match the Obama record". It was just pathetic and sad. Trump isn't even President, has no official power yet, and already saved 1,000 jobs (and probably more at the Ford plant, though the officials aren't willing to admit it). Once he actually becomes President Obama is going to see his "jobs record" look like the sad, underwhelming performance it was. It's disgusting to think we still have 50 more days of the Lost Professor.

Trump got in on a discussion the state of Indiana and its governor were already having with Carrier, and put a bit more weight in the scale - what with being able to threaten potential consequences to the far more important federal contracts of the mother company. Nice as far as it goes, but surely you're not going to pretend it really means anything more than a quick PR win (other than for the 1000 people in question).

And it's not like we're going to find out the details of the deal - whether the concessions made were really worth the gain in the end. Without even getting into the more philosophical question of whether the federal government should be interfering in the economy in an ad hoc way like that - conservatives may remember the old Reagan line about the most terrifying words in the English language.

Of course the White House response was also petty in a different way - pretending a president can take the credit for jobs created while he's in power.
