I don't doubt Trump did this for propaganda, but your facts are wrong Tom Send a noteboard - 03/12/2016 08:42:34 PM

It looks like you're basing it on a bad CNN article. The exact number of people saved at the main facility is 1,069. This is according to the most precise reporting I've seen. It notes that roughly 400 employees will still lose their jobs, as will roughly 700 at the other facility (which had roughly 1,000 - that's where the erroneous number comes from). 1,100 jobs are still going to Mexico.

The yearly cost of the tax incentives is about $600,000 for Indiana ($500,000 in direct tax incentives and $100,000 for plant cost deductions). However, since the average worker makes $30.91 per hour. Let's just assume they all only work 30 hours a week. They're still making $45,000+ per year, which means Indiana retains 1,069 people making that, which is almost $50,000,000 dollars in payroll income. That's $50,000,000 staying in the area for spending at restaurants and stores, taxes coming back in to the state, etc.

As for how Trump will handle other companies in the future, or encourage investment in the US, remains to be seen.

It's amazing how people can't find a good thing to say about Trump. Obama said the jobs were lost and it was impossible to keep them, Trump finds a way to save 1069 jobs and then everyone bitches about it being propaganda. If he gets other companies to repatriate factories I'll bet they'll say it's part of his "racist" agenda against Mexico.

Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.
