The site has been on life support for years, the last 2 years in particular. Any flurry of activity will last weeks at best and then it'll be tumbleweeds again. No new users are going to appear, the book series is finished, everyone has grown up/moved on/life got busy/anything else you want to add. Save your money, don't let the site suffer any longer, figure out a way to keep in touch with those you want to, and let it go...
