I'm not really convinced this could work anywhere near as well as SoIaF on television - despite its size WoT rather more straightforward and to some extent predictable (it's also worth pointing out that Martin had considerable experience writing for TV when he began on the series, in the back of his head he may have been influenced by that already when writing).

I still think rather highly of it as a series, and though Jordan sort of lost control I still broadly liked the wide scope and large number of characters - but that would have to go in any TV series anyway, and the pruned down story that remains doesn't seem to have what it takes to be a real hit in modern television.

Of course it would be nice if I'm wrong.
